  • Notice of Passing of a Zoning By-law Amendment

    TAKE NOTICE that the Council of The Municipality of North Perth passed By-law No. 86-2025 on the 8th day of September, 2025, under Section 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, as amended (herein after called the “Act”). Council considered all written and oral submissions received on this application, the effect of which helped Council to make an informed decision.

    AND TAKE NOTICE that an appeal to the Ontario Land Tribunal in respect to all or part of this Zoning By-law Amendment may be made by filing a notice of appeal with the Clerk of the Municipality of North Perth either electronically via the Ontario Land Tribunal(OLT) e-file service (first-time users will need to register for a My Ontario Account) at https://olt.gov.on.ca/e-file-service or by mail, no later than 4:30 p.m. on October 1, 2025. The filing of an appeal after 4:30 p.m., in person or electronically, will be deemed to have been received the next business day. The appeal must set out the objection to the By-law, the reasons in support of the objection and must be accompanied by the appeal fee required by the OLT. The appeal fee can be paid online through e-file or by certified cheque/money order to the Minister of Finance, Province of Ontario. Additional information and forms can be found on the OLT website www.olt.gov.on.ca.

    Purpose and Effect: The subject application is intended to satisfy a condition of Consent File B16-25. The proposed retained lot is to be rezoned from Agriculture Zone (A) to Special Agriculture Zone (A-1) to permit a non-farm residential dwelling and associated accessory uses, buildings and structures.

     

    The proposed retained lands will be rezoned from Agriculture Zone (A) to Special Agriculture Zone (A-62) to prohibit a residential dwelling.

  • Municipality of North Perth Donates Land to Community Living North Perth for Supported Housing Project

    On September 8, 2025, North Perth Council unanimously supported the donation of a municipally-owned parcel of land at 580 Main Street West, Listowel, to Community Living North Perth for the development of a 15-unit supported housing facility. The 0.3 acre parcel of land, which has been declared surplus by the Municipality, has an estimated market value of $250,000.

    TAKE NOTICE a statutory public meeting is taking place to discuss a proposed Amendment Zoning By-law affecting the property described above. The application was deemed complete on April 11, 2024 pursuant to Section 34 (10.4) of the Planning Act in accordance with the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990. O. Reg. 545/06 s. 5

    Purpose and Effect: An application has been received requesting the rezoning of a portion of the above noted property to Special - Agriculture-Commercial/Industrial Zone (ACM-25) from Special Agricultural Zone (a-36) to allow for the severance of the existing Greenhouse/Garden Centre from the Agricultural lands. The request would also amend the existing Special Agricultural Zone (A-36) to General Agriculture (A) for the retained parcel. Severance application B28-24 is associated with the above noted severance.

    The Consent and Zone Change Applications have been amended to reflect changes to the parcel configuration due to comments from the Ministry of Transportation and to align with the Employment Lands in the Draft Approved County of Perth Official Plan. 

  • Open Air Fire Ban Lifted in Perth County

    PERTH COUNTY (August 25, 2025) – Effective at noon today, thanks to the recent rainfall, the open air fire ban will be lifted in the County of Perth, including the City of Stratford. Burn permits can now be issued and must abide by the respective municipality’s open air burn by-law.

    TAKE NOTICE a proposed Zoning By-law Amendment application has been received affecting the property described above. The application was deemed complete on July 23, 2025 pursuant to Section 34 (10.4) of the Planning Act in accordance with the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990. O. Reg. 545/06 s. 5

    Purpose and Effect:

    The subject application proposes to rezone the above-noted lands from Residential Zone Four (R4) to Special Residential Zone Four (R4-sp) to facilitate the conversion of the existing accessory structure to accommodate 2 residential dwelling units on the subject property. The property will have a total 6 dwelling units. The zoning amendment is also proposing to reduce the minimum required landscaped open space from 35% to 28%, reduce the interior side yard width from 1.8 m (6 ft) to 0.6 m (2 ft); and, reduce the minimum rear yard depth from 4.5 m (15 ft) to 1.4 m (4.75 ft).

  • Action-packed PD Days on the horizon at the North Perth Public Library

    North Perth, August 21, 2025 - With roughly one Professional Development Day a month on the horizon for students in the Avon Maitland District School Board, the North Perth Public Library is taking action.
