Salvation Army, in partnership with the Homelessness Taskforce and OPP, launch new Care Kit

North Perth’s Homelessness Taskforce has launched a Care Kit campaign. The Care Kits are funded by the Salvation Army – Listowel and are being distributed by the North Perth O.P.P detachment.

Care Kits will be distributed by members of the North Perth O.P.P detachment when a person expresses the need for information to access resources in the area. Currently, the Care Kit includes items such as service maps, information pamphlets, snacks, beverages, and sunscreen. The goal of the Care Kit is to provide someone in need with resources that can help guide them.

"We are so grateful for a community that truly cares. These bags are an example of that caring in action, as we work together to support those in need " says Gwnyeth Woods, Community and Family Services Director for The Salvation Army – Listowel.

The North Perth Homelessness Taskforce is compromised of individuals from The Salvation Army - Listowel, City of Stratford Social Services, Listowel Wingham Hospital Alliance, North Perth O.P.P Detachment and the Municipality of North Perth. The Taskforce’s target is to bring attention to the needs of those in North Perth and address the vulnerable situations faced by individuals living in the community.

While much work is left to be done, the Taskforce remains committed to improving the quality of life for people in North Perth while working with partner agencies to address homelessness. Creating the Care Kit is one of many steps towards helping those in need.
