  • 4-Gas Monitors are now available at NPPL Branches

    North Perth, April 11, 2025 – The Municipality of North Perth is pleased to announce that 4-gas monitors are now available for loan at the North Perth Public Library’s (NPPL) three branches. These portable, handheld, battery-powered devices will be available to borrowers at no cost, equipped with step-by-step instructions on their usage.

    The 4-gas monitors detect the presence of four critical gases: oxygen, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, and combustible gases. They provide real-time gas level readings and emit alarms when unsafe gas levels are detected, offering an essential tool for safety in various environments, particularly those that are confined spaces.

    TAKE NOTICE a proposed Zoning By-law Amendment application has been received affecting the property described above. The application was deemed complete on March 18, 2025 pursuant to Section 34 (10.4) of the Planning Act in accordance with the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990. O. Reg. 545/06 s. 5

    Purpose and Effect:

    The applicant has submitted a Listowel Ward Official Plan Amendment to change the Official Plan Designation from Residential to Highway Commercial. An application for Zoning By-law Amendment has also been submitted to re-zone the subject lands from Special Future Development Zone (FD-7) to Special Highway Commercial Zone (C3-31). The subject applications will facilitate the development of an automobile sales and service establishment. The site is currently vacant and is used for overflow parking to support the neighbouring business.

    The site-specific nature of the Zoning By-law Amendment is for the following relief:

    ·         To reduce the minimum lot frontage from 1,400 m² to 1,360 m²;

    ·         To reduce the minimum lot frontage from 45 m to 44 m;

    ·         To reduce the minimum front yard depth from 10.5 m to 3 m;

    ·         To reduce the minimum interior side yard width from 7.5 m to 3 m along the northern property line; and

    ·         To reduce the minimum rear yard depth from 6 m to 3 m.

  • Listowel Memorial Arena Park ‘59 Official Opening

    North Perth, February 28, 2025 – The Municipality of North Perth is proud to announce the official opening of the Memorial Arena Park, a commemorative space honouring the lives lost in the tragic collapse of the Listowel Arena structure in 1959. This community park stands on the site of the former Listowel Memorial Arena, serving as a lasting tribute to the victims, their families, and the resilience of our community in the face of adversity.

    On Saturday, February 28, 1959, at approximately 9:27 am, an unforeseen disaster struck during a peewee hockey practice at the Listowel Arena, claiming the lives of seven young hockey players and one adult. Thirteen others were injured when the roof and walls of the rink section collapsed, leaving a legacy of grief and remembrance.
