Workforce Attraction and Employment Branding

Cultivate Something Great in North Perth

North Perth's Workforce Attraction and Employment branding portal brings together a suite of messages that tell a relevant, compelling, and powerful story that answers the question, "Why choose North Perth", as well as tips, tools, and resources for all North Perth businesses to help support workforce attraction and retention in the region.

Employment Branding refers to the strategy a business or organization uses to position itself as a desirable employer in the minds of potential and current employees. It encompasses the company's reputation, culture, values, and many other benefits and reasons for working there, including its place and the quality of life it offers. Employment branding is typically expressed through various marketing and communications, both internally (to employees) and externally (to customers, partners, and the general public).

Essentially, it's about creating and promoting a positive image of what it's like to work at the company, highlighting unique selling points that make the company stand out as an employer of choice. Our place – North Perth – can play an important role in your own employment branding, and be a key contributor to positive associations with your organization.

Workforce Attraction, on the other hand, is the process of attracting individuals to apply for positions within a company. It involves implementing strategies and practices that appeal to potential employees, ensuring the company not only attracts but also engages and motivates people to want to work for them. This can include targeted advertising, participating in job fairs, developing a strong online presence, and leveraging social media to reach potential candidates. Workforce attraction is crucial for local businesses in maintaining a competitive edge, as it ensures a steady influx of skilled individuals who can contribute to the company's growth and success. Together, employment branding and workforce attraction form a comprehensive approach to building a strong, capable, and motivated team.

Effective employment branding helps create a strong company identity that resonates with potential employees, making it easier to attract top talent. When a company is seen as an employer of choice, it not only draws skilled candidates but also retains them, reducing turnover rates and associated costs.

Moreover, a positive employment brand can significantly enhance employee engagement and satisfaction. When employees feel proud of their company, they are more likely to be motivated, productive, and loyal. This translates to better performance, higher morale, and a stronger organizational culture, which are essential for long-term success.

For businesses, investing in employment branding and workforce attraction strategies means building a sustainable talent pipeline. This is particularly important in industries facing skill shortages or high competition for talent. By highlighting the unique advantages and benefits of working for the company—which includes the advantages of living and working in North Perth—businesses can differentiate themselves from competitors and appeal to the right candidates.

Through a public RFP (request for proposal) process, Trajectory Brands Inc. was selected to lead this work and help North Perth “design and implement an employment landscape brand for North Perth and stimulate employer branding across the businesses of North Perth with training, mentorship, tools, and resources.”

This work commenced in June, 2023, and has been substantially completed by March, 2024.

It was paid for with partnered funding through the OMAFRA Rural Economic Development (RED) program at 70%, which was approved during 2023 and 2024 Budget processes.
