Industry and Government Resources & Supports

Business Development Bank of Canada offers robust support for Canadian businesses impacted by uncertainty around U.S. tariffs. BDC brings $500M in new financing, advisory services, and strategic insights to help businesses pivot and mitigate the impacts of uncertainty around US tariffs. 

The Canada Tariff Finder  offers up-to-date tariff rates for goods under Canada’s Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and allows for comparisons between products or countries to identify the best options.

Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium is committed to keeping Canadian manufacturers informed about Canada/US trade relations, while providing additional resources. Sign up for email updates.

 Farm Credit Canada  is offering financial support for businesses impacted by the U.S. tariffs.

Agriculture & Agrifood Canada raised the interest-free limit of the Advanced Payments Program from $100,000 to $250,000 for 2025. The Advance Payments Program (APP) is a Government of Canada program which supports the provision of cash advances to producers across Canada. 

The Trade Commissioner Service offers guidance for businesses navigating trade policies, Canada trade tariffs, sanctions, export and import controls.

Ontario Made connects manufacturers, makers, retailers, and consumers to celebrate and promote Ontario-made products, making it easy to identify and support local craftsmanship and production.

How Tariffs Work for Business explains tariffs, their impact on businesses, strategies to minimize costs, and market diversification, with insights from Export Development Canada (EDC) to help companies navigate global.

-   The Work-Sharing Program helps businesses reduce work hours instead of layoffs, supporting employers during downturns while ensuring income stability for employees.

Coordinated by investStratford,  TRTF supports businesses across Stratford, St. Marys, and Perth County, ensuring they have access to the information, resources, and advocacy they need to remain competitive.

The Stratford Perth Centre for Business provides complimentary consultations and accessible resources to assist new and established small businesses.

North Perth Economic Development supports businesses facing tariff uncertainty by connecting them with valuable resources, aiming to help businesses navigate challenges and build resilience for long-term success.

Surveys

Perth County is conducting a survey to evaluate the impact of recently announced tariffs on businesses of all sizes, responses will help inform advocacy efforts for necessary support measures at both the federal and provincial levels.
