Postal Service Disruption Impact
All Municipal billing statements will be sent via mail beginning again on December 17, 2024. Due to the impact of the Canada Post strike, mail may be delayed. Residents still need to make payments on their accounts during this time by the due date or late fees will apply.
We encourage residents to sign up for ebilling to prevent delayed invoices and payments. View all payment options.

Water & Sewer - January 15th
Please take note of the following changes to the waste collection schedule during the 2024/25 holidays: December 25th, 2024 collection: Rescheduled to Saturday, December 28th, 2024. January 1st, 2025 collection: Rescheduled to Saturday, January 4th, 2025. All other regular waste and recycling collections will continue as usual. Remember to set out your materials by 7:00 AM to ensure pickup
Transition Rules
The 2024 Building Code comes into effect on January 1, 2025, with a three-month transition period until March 31, 2025. Please note the following key transition period dates:
Applications submitted up to and on December 31, 2024
• All building permit applications must be submitted using the 2012 Building Code.
Applications submitted from January 1, 2025, to March 31, 2025
• Permit applications may be submitted using the new 2024 Building Code or the 2012 Building Code. If you are choosing the 2012 code, then you need to submit a complete application including, all forms, and stamped drawings before April 1st. View the matrix to ensure the correct forms have been submitted. Please visit the North Perth Building website to verify that all required forms and documents are completed and to ensure your application is fully submitted.
Effective April 1, 2025
• All building permit applications must be submitted using the 2024 Building Code.

A sign permit must demonstrate compliance with the Ontario Building Code (as a designated structure) and the North Perth Sign Bylaw. Please refer to the Sign By-law to ensure you are adhering to the local regulations.

A property layout plan is a visual representation of the arrangement and dimensions of structures, features, and boundaries on a piece of land, showing the placement of buildings, driveways, utilities, and landscaping in relation to property lines and zoning requirements.
Designer Information/Schedule 1 Form
Identifies the responsible party for the construction project, ensuring accountability.
a. If property owner is taking accountability, please fill out the form and reason for exemption is “homeowner” and BCIN not required.
b. If 600 meters squared (1968 square feet) or larger, not needed and commitment to general review form is required
Ensuring the current property owner grants permission to either construct themselves or to have another party, such as a contractor or builder, to apply for and manage a building permit on their behalf.
Professional Engineer or Architect Requirements
A professional engineer or architect must stamp a design of a sign if it meets any of these criteria:
a. Ground Signs taller than 7.5 Meters
b. Projecting signs heavier than 115 kilograms
c. Roof signs with a face larger than 10 square meters
d. Projecting signs mounted to a parapet wall
Must be submitted if any of the above criteria is met.
