In Ontario, a plumbing permit is required for:

New Installations - adding pipes, fixtures and drains
Major Renovations - relocating pipes, adding new fixtures
Repairs or Replacements - Replacing main water line or adding new connections
Sewage - See Sewage Permit
Backflow Prevention - Installing or altering backflow prevention devices or systems

You do not need a plumbing permit for the following:

Minor Repairs
Installing a kitchen or bathroom cupboard with no plumbing
Changing existing plumbing fixtures in the same location

This is part of the Cloud Permit Process and done through the software, no additional document is required when submitting through CloudPermit

Designer Information/Schedule 1 Form

Identifies the responsible party for the construction project, ensuring accountability.

a. If property owner is taking accountability, please fill out the form and reason for exemption is “homeowner” and BCIN not required.

b. If 600 meters squared (1968 square feet) or larger, not needed and commitment to general review form is required

Owner Authorization Form

Ensuring the current property owner grants permission to either construct themselves or to have another party, such as a contractor or builder, to apply for and manage a building permit on their behalf.

Plumbing Drawings and Specifications

A scaled site plan indicating the location of the building on the property, as well as any water supply lines, drainage, and sewage lines that connect to municipal systems or on-site septic systems.

Floor Plans detailing the layout of plumbing fixtures (sinks, toilets, showers, etc.) and piping routes

Water Supply and Drainage Details

Include information about the water supply source (e.g., municipal or well water) and how wastewater will be handled. For septic systems, a separate septic permit is required.
