Applications Now Open for 2025 Attainable Housing CIP Program

North Perth, May 2, 2025 – The Municipality of North Perth is pleased to announce the opening of the Attainable Housing Community Improvement Plan (CIP) incentive programs for 2025. Now in its second year of implementation, the Attainable Housing CIP aims to minimize financial barriers to the creation of affordable and attainable rental housing in North Perth.

The Attainable Housing CIP offers four incentive programs: Planning and Building Permit Fee Grant, Tax Increment Equivalency Grant, Additional Residential Dwelling Unit Grant, and Commercial and Rental Housing Conversion and Expansion Grant. Up to $100,000 in total funding is available in 2025 to be awarded to successful applicants.

North Perth, like many communities across Southwestern Ontario, is experiencing growth and increasing pressures on the housing market. The CIP incentive programs will help facilitate the development of housing supply, especially affordable and attainable housing, across the Municipality.

The Listowel Gardens development, which recently broke ground in the Town of Listowel, is the first project supported by the Attainable Housing CIP and its financial incentive programs. Phase 1 of this development will see the construction of 50 affordable and/or attainable rental units. “It is exciting to see the Housing CIP gain momentum as the first project utilizing the incentive programs has started construction. We are looking forward to seeing more affordable and attainable housing projects come to life in 2025,” says Lindsay Cline, Interim Manager of Strategic Initiatives.

The intake window for applications will be open until June 30th, with a second intake window opening in September 2025. The Municipality of North Perth encourages eligible property owners, developers and businesses to utilize the CIP incentive programs.
